"Cheese Bob" A Ceramic Mug by Bosko. The Mug stands a little under 8" tall. All of our ceramics are designed and created by hand in our Southern California Studios. This art has a pedigree; Bosko was not just the first artist to bring back the lost art of Tiki (as Sculpture) in the mid 80’s but he was in fact the first one to create another version of the “Tiki Bob” mug in the late 1990s. You have a piece of history. © Bosko Hrnjak
What you are getting is created by an artist, from concept to its physical manifestation, every stage made by hand. It has imperfections, fingerprints, colored drips on the inside and clay body variations. When Bosko started his ceramic art in the 1980’s he was deeply inspired by Paul Gauguin’s ceramics (as seen in the photo he lent for Sven Kirsten’s original Book of Tiki), how he bridged the gap between primitive and modern. To some his works may look imperfect, but that’s exactly the idea, you can see the human hand everywhere, there are flaws, variations, it’s asymmetrical, it’s Pop and it’s esoteric, it has a concept. This is in a completely different league than so many of today’s mass produced, computerized, polished mugs. Sculptured by hand in clay (like the ancient ceramicists), it is handled by us at every stage, we have a deep connection to the object, these are very limited edition pieces of art.
